An Exhibition by Alix Pearlstein and Suzanne McClelland
Suzanne McClelland and Alix Pearlstein have collaborated since 2019 on "A DRESS / Address", a series of text-based, wearable garments. The project teases out aspects of each artist’s work.
Pearlstein’s practice develops out of video and performance, staging interactions with groups of people and objects. Her works seek connection through gesture, expression, character, gaze and form - to highlight moments where the psychological and spatial overlap.
McClelland's pictures find their genesis in text and context, investigating the gap between speech and script, and drawing attention to how perception animates material relationships. Her interest lies in how objective observation leads to shifting forms when one attempts to assign intention.
Both artists are concerned with legibility, the ability to name, recognize, and identify. For Roseyendpost, each artist will present two works. Pearlstein is showing a selection from "We Shall Run" and "Nausea | Facepots". McClelland will show an unbound book, "Lineup" with “Pantone Pairs”. Three of the garments from A DRESS / Address will also be on view.
